Volunteer with BIA

Volunteers play a critical role in achieving the Benefits in Action mission. Our team includes VISTA members, SHIP (Medicare) volunteers, volunteers from Boomers Leading Change, and a network of other talented and passionate individuals.

We constantly welcome new volunteers interested in learning about healthcare resources and excited to serve their community. We currently have opportunities in the following areas:


Navigators assist clients by answering questions and enrolling them in healthcare and social programs for which they qualify. No experience is necessary, and training will be provided!


Are you are interested in understanding the services offered and forms of insurance accepted by the medical practices in our community?  In this role, you connect clients with preventive or primary care resources after enrollment in an insurance plan.


This front-Line role is the first contact community members have with Benefits in Action, so we need your welcoming personality! If you love to work with people, have experience with Microsoft Office products, can multi-task, pay attention to detail, and enjoy problem-solving, this is the place for you!


Marketing volunteers will research advertising groups and news outlets we can work with, and they will assist in Facebook design and promotion, website upkeep, and event promotion.


Volunteers in our food delivery program pick up food from local food pantries and deliver boxes of non-perishable and fresh foods to households in the metro Denver area. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license, be able to carry 20 pounds, and climb stairs for this position!


BIA strives to make healthcare resources better understood by holding education sessions within our community.  In volunteering at these events, you will have the opportunity to teach people about Medicare and Medicaid services and the many benefits they provide.


These outgoing, friendly volunteers locate clients in need of services and meet with nearby organizations to discuss our mission and increase client referrals.  No prior healthcare knowledge is required!


As a fundraising volunteer, you join a team to research possible funding sources and initiatives, contact potential donors, and plan fundraising events.  If you have experience with grant-writing or non-profit collaborations, we would love your help, but no experience is required!


These volunteers input online forms and survey data into our database to facilitate easier analysis. Other data entry projects include tracking the number of clients being seen, where referrals are coming from, and the attendance at our health education classes. Basic computer literacy is required, particularly Microsoft Office!


Volunteer callers help contact individuals about food box delivery dates and times, remind clients of appointments, and follow up with clients to ensure they received the benefits we assisted with.


Are you a compassionate listener?  Our Connectedness Volunteers call individuals weekly to check in with them, have a conversation, and make sure they are doing okay.
