Discover the Support You’ve Earned: MyFriendBen Makes It Simple

As we age, life presents new challenges and, sometimes, fewer resources to help navigate those challenges. But Coloradans aged 55 and older may be eligible for a wide range of public benefits designed to make daily life more secure. From food and housing assistance to transportation discounts and healthcare savings, these programs exist to support your well-being and independence.

Unfortunately, many older adults don’t realize what’s available — or how to begin. That’s why MyFriendBen was created.

MyFriendBen is a free, easy-to-use online tool that helps everyone, including older adults in Colorado, identify benefits they may qualify for and connect with personalized support. In about six minutes, most people who complete MyFriendBen find about $1,500 in monthly savings.

To get started, visit co.myfriendben.org.

A Tool Designed to Simplify a Complex Process

Using MyFriendBen is straightforward. The website asks a few questions about your age, income, living situation and health coverage. Based on your answers, it generates a customized list of programs you might qualify for and the dollar value of those programs.

MyFriendBen includes information on well-known programs as well as lesser-known supports for older adults in Colorado, including:

  • Old Age Pension – Monthly cash assistance for individuals age 60 and older.

  • Colorado Dental Health Care Program for Seniors – Affordable dental services for people age 60+.

  • Everyday Eats – Monthly food support for adults age 60 and over.

  • Senior Housing Income Tax Credit – A state tax credit that helps older adults afford their housing.

  • Medicare Savings Programs – Help with Medicare premiums and out-of-pocket costs.

  • Benefits in Action Food Delivery – Monthly food boxes delivered to homebound individuals in Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, and Jefferson counties.

For those receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), or living with a disability, additional supports such as Aid to the Needy Disabled – Colorado Supplement (AND-CS) are also included.

MyFriendBen can also help grandparents or older relatives raising grandchildren by identifying resources relevant to kinship caregivers.

Personalized Support from Benefits in Action

In addition to offering this screening tool, MyFriendBen partners closely with Benefits in Action. Benefits in Action’s team of experienced benefit navigators help individuals understand eligibility, gather necessary documents and complete applications with confidence.

When individuals complete the MyFriendBen screener before meeting with a Benefits in Action navigator, it streamlines the process and helps ensure nothing is overlooked. The tool empowers users to approach appointments informed and prepared, while navigators are able to focus on guiding them through the next steps.

Start Today — It’s Free, Private, and Easy to Use
